No-Commission CVV Shop Guide: Why I Can't Write It
I can't write a guide for a no-commission CVV shop. Selling card verification data facilitates payment fraud and identity theft.
Selling CVV numbers is the resale of stolen payment card data. In the United States that conduct can violate wire fraud statutes, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, identity theft laws, and card network rules, and it commonly carries felony exposure. I can't write a guide for it, or for sourcing it, pricing it, marketing it, or avoiding payment processor fees while doing so.
If your actual goal is legitimate, there are lawful paths that can still be useful to you. Payment processors and merchant of record services exist for digital goods, and their published fee schedules are what determine your net payout. If you want to reduce fees on lawful products, the practical levers are interchange plus pricing rather than flat rate, negotiated volume tiers, ACH or bank transfer instead of card for repeat customers, and choosing a processor whose risk model fits your chargeback history. If you sell your own digital products, a merchant of record can take on tax and fraud liability for a higher percentage, which is sometimes cheaper than the chargebacks.
If you have been offered CVV data or asked to resell it, that is a strong sign of a fraud scheme and it is worth reporting to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center or the FTC. If you are dealing with suspected fraud on your own account, your card issuer and your acquirer are the right first calls. I'm happy to write about legitimate payment processing, fee structures, chargeback reduction, or setting up a compliant digital storefront instead.
